Another week. Another Toyota teaser that does not involve the eagerly-awaited 2025 4Runner. Toyota has already previewed the all-new Camry. This week, Toyota plugged an all-new crossover, the Crown SUV.

Here's what you need to know about the Toyota Crown SUV.

Wait, didn't the Crown already come out?

Yes, Toyota already launched a Crown sedan in America. But the initial reveal in Japan showed a family of four Crown vehicles. The "Crossover type" already made it to America as a sedan. The new vehicle is likely the larger "Estate type" Crown SUV that was another one of the four.

The Crown SUV will be mid-size, hybrid and all-wheel-drive

Toyota says the new vehicle is a mid-size SUV. It's all-wheel-drive and hybrid-electric, as we can tell from the badge on the back. Toyota released the following description of the Crown SUV at its launch: "A highly functional SUV, enables users to enjoy driving performance with power to spare and an active lifestyle in a mature atmosphere. The rear seats fold to form a completely flat cargo area, making this model a cross between a station wagon and an SUV."

The Crown SUV should be smaller than the Toyota Highlander

Toyota has provided some specs for the Crown SUV. It will be a two-row, five-seater SUV. The vehicle will be about 194 inches long, 74 inches wide and 64 inches high. For comparison, that's about an inch shorter lengthwise than the Highlander, two inches narrower and four inches shorter heightwise.

What engines will the Toyota Crown SUV have?

We know the Crown SUV will have a hybrid powertrain. Toyota said the Crown SUV will have a PHEV powertrain available as well, but Toyota has not confirmed whether that will be offered in America yet. The Crown sedan's 2.4-liter Hybrid Max powertrain with 340 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque would be our best bet.

When will the Toyota Crown SUV debut?

Toyota has confirmed a launch date for the Crown SUV. It will debut on November 14, 2023 at 10:00 pm ET.

How does the Crown SUV fit in the Toyota lineup?

We don't know yet. Toyota is adding the Crown SUV into a Toyota SUV lineup that already includes the Corolla Cross, RAV4, Venza, 4Runner, Highlander, Grand Highlander, Land Cruiser, Sequoia and the electric bZ4X. We will have a better idea when Toyota announces pricing.
